Frequently Asked Questions

These FAQs are mainly aimed at our Disco/DJ Booking clients, however we have also tried to cover some event based FAQS too.

What will you wear on the day?
What we wear completely depends on the event. We provide all our employees with AVS Events branded Polo Shirts, Dress Shirts, Hoodies, Hi-Vis and Soft Shell Jackets. This covers us for most events. During an event, the AVS Events Polo or Dress Shirt is what we will wear along with black/ dark trousers. If you have a preference please let us know.

Can you play background music at events?
This is easily arranged; just choose the style of music you would prefer to have played. The most popular choices are modern chill and acoustic covers. However we can play anything, it’s your event. Just send a playlist in advance for anything specific.

Do you play the music very loud?
Some people who will have not seen each other for some time will want to talk and catch up, so the volume will be kept down early on and increased as the night goes by unless you wish or the event suits otherwise. We regulate the volumeand try to keep it comfortable and suitable for the event.
However, if you know in advance that the music may be louder or quieter than normal, please let us know.
In addition to this, if you feel you want the music turned up or down on the day, just let us know.

Will you keep talking on the microphone all night?
People dance to music not our voices; so we tend to only use the microphone for announcements.
For some of the younger events, we do often use the microphone to ‘hype’ up the crowd and get the energy even higher.
We use common sense and will use the microphone accordingly.
We also have a microphone for use by guests.

Can we extend the DJ performance on the night itself?
Yes, this is usually possible and the DJ will have an extension contract available. However, any extension will be at the given DJ’s discretion.
We love an extension request – we see it as the ultimate compliment!
We reserve the right to refuse an extension request as we do sometimes have events directly one after another and events that start early in the morning. We would never let a client down.

What equipment do your DJs use to mix with?
We only use Pioneer DJ equipment for mixing. Our preferred consoles are the Pioneer DDJ SX2 and Pioneer XDJ-700s along with Serato DJ Software on a MacBook Pro. (Equipment to be changed at any time without notice)

What PA systems do you use?
Our DJs use PA systems of at least a combined 2,000w, We always research and ask about the venue/ location in advance, so are always prepared with extra speakers or subwoofers when required. We only use top end PA systems by RCF, EAW, EV, QSC and alike. If you have any concerns, just ask us and we can let you know the options we have available.

Can we hire out sound/ lighting equipment only?
Absolutely! Our hire supply consists of a range of DJ/mixing equipment, speaker systems and lighting setups (plus anything extra like microphones, smoke machines, specific lights/speakers, etc.)
You can choose to hire equipment only if, for example, you have a friend DJing for you or you want to play music yourself through a phone/ laptop.
We also arrange delivery, setup, testing and pack-down/ collection, to fit in with your schedule on the day of the event

Why shouldn't I just use the venue's "included" DJ?
Accepting the venue’s own ‘resident’ DJ, rather than choosing your own, may be the easiest option…but that doesn’t mean it’s the best!
If you do go with the DJ thrown in as part of the “package”, all too often what you receive is more “human jukebox”, and less professional DJ talent..!
A venue may tell you that they prefer you to use their resident/preferred supplier, but very few will oblige you to. This is nearly unheard of. 9 times out of 10 you DO have the choice of who you employ as your DJ
